Bellies to Babies 2012

Yesterday Sandy and I spent the entire day at our third annual Bellies to Babies Trade Show.  This is the one show that I participate in every year because it is an amazing place to really talk and connect with both old and new clients.  In fact, yesterday one of the babies that was displayed on my wall showed up with mom and dad.  She is now walking!!!  It was so much fun meeting new and expectant parents and sharing my love and passion for photography with them all.

Something that so many people found exciting was our Baby Steps Program.  This is where we photograph babies at two of their greatest milestones in their first year.  We photograph them at 6 months when they are sitting up, and then again at 12 months when they are standing up.  It was so much fun showing everyone the final images of a Baby Steps series.

Due to the huge popularity of this program last year, we have decided to relaunch this special again this year.  Parents booking a newborn session by November 15th will receive a complimentary 6 and 12 month session to add to their gorgeous newborn images, creating a stunning series of their baby's first year.

There were so many other changes that we've made this year including our new wall displays, image boxes,  our adorable wave accordion albums (perfect for grandparent gifts) as well as our new credit system where each item is awarded a set number of credits.  With this new system, there are no predetermined packages.  You simply purchase credits or collections that allow you to design your very own custom package based on your needs.

I am so excited about all of these new changes and am looking forward to more excitement for the upcoming year.  More to come soon...

Here are a few pictures of Sandy and me getting ready for the show!!

Here is Sandy at our booth just before the show.  This would be the last time you would see her alone, or so relaxed.  From the minute the doors open we were both chatting non-stop.  I'd love to show you some pictures of us after the show but neither of us had the energy to press the shutter!!

Blue Stone Photography's New Studio on Front Street

This August I closed down the home studio for a month while I spent some quality time with the family.  We went on a 10 day RV trip to Olympic National Park where we rode horses on the beach, went Go-Karting and did lots of hiking and exploring.  It was a great chance to relax and unwind and prepare for all of the new changes that were coming up in September.

September marked the move to my new studio location in New Westminster, which I am sharing with another very talented photographer.  It is a beautiful heritage building with brick walls and a huge 1,000 foot studio that has a large white shooting cove.

While exciting, this new move was a huge step for me and quite frankly, pretty terrifying.  Gone was the familiarity and comfort of my in-home studio environment, which had worked so well for the last few years.  I’ve now done a few sessions at my new ‘home’ and the anxiety is almost gone.  The new space is unique and spacious and I’m really enjoying the freedom of working in such a creative environment.  I’m excited about what this change will bring and already have some great ideas (but more on that later).

I’m putting together some ‘behind the scene’s shots’ from one of my first sessions and will be posting them soon.   For now, here are some images of the new studio.   I’d love to hear what you think.

This is the white shooting cove in the studio.
This is the main entry way leading to the studio space which is just behind the large white barn door.

Sneak Peaks of Baby J | Blue Stone Photography

Meet Baby J, a gorgeous little man of only three weeks.  As he was older than my typical newborns that I photograph, we weren't at all sure what to expect.  Many babies older than 14 days will be more alert, more wakeful and will not remain sleeping from pose to pose so we were happily surprised when he slept so well for us!!  I love his little lips, his tiny toes peeking up, and just look at those cute little fingers.

Now that my two have just turned 8 and 10, I am loving and appreciating what I do more and more each day.  I hope that the images that I create will always be cherished and treasured and enjoyed as much as I enjoyed creating them.

Baby Piper at 7 Months

Oh.... this little gal is just the sweetest.  Her smile just lights up the room.  She did make me work hard for those rare and precious smiles but each one was absolutely worth it.  Here are some sneak peaks from our recent session.  Take a look!!

Baby S | Sneak Peak by Blue Stone Photography

This is a sneak peak of gorgeous Baby S.   It took us a little while to get her asleep, but I would say that it was worth it.  Mom loved this basket and really wanted the last image.  This one's for you Mom- I hope you like them.

Sneak Peak Baby M | Blue Stone Photography

Here is a sneak peak from a recent session with Baby M.  This little guy's grumpy face is just the cutest thing ever and I just can't help but smile!!  Thanks to Mom and Dad for not only the great session, but the wonderful conversation.  It was a real pleasure meeting you all.
